BIX was founded in 1930 by Max Bix in Austin, Minnesota with a single truck. Their simple philosophy of only offering the finest quality product delivered to customers on their schedule continues to serve as our foundation. Randy Wilcox purchased BIX from Sam Bix in 1980, acquired Beckman Produce in September 1997 and merged both operations into a brand new 58,000 square foot facility in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

BIX has evolved into the regional bulk, specialty and fresh-cut industry leader, serving restaurants, hotels, educational institutions, country clubs, food service distributors and other segments of the food service industry. BIX serves customers in the entire state of Minnesota, as well as Western Wisconsin, North Dakota and Iowa. In 2012, we began serving specialty distributors as far away as Chicago.

Today, the BIX Little Canada facility has grown to over 190,000 square feet and is a state-of-the-art production fresh-cut value added facility which utilizes the most advanced equipment in the industry so that we can process with pride and we can pack for perfection.

With knowledgeable staff, our 20 outside sales professionals average over 12 years in the produce business, ensuring unmatched service every step of the way for each of our customers. Our trucks are out 6 days a week to offer you more delivery flexibility so you’ll never run short on what you need to keep your kitchen running strong.

From the farm all the way to your kitchen, we provide the highest quality products, custom produce solutions, and safety with personalized service. That means we never settle. Our procurement team adheres to the highest quality standards, cultivating deep relationships with a network of trusted growers and suppliers to buy only the best produce.

In addition, we bring it in right. For 25 years, we’ve used the same transportation partner to get the highest quality produce to our St. Paul facility seven days a week. And we believe in details.

Our receiving department checks everything from appearance to temperature to sweetness and more. Anything that doesn’t fare well on the journey to BIX is turned away. Then, before it gets delivered to our customers, we check every order for freshness, quality, and accuracy. Then, just to be sure, we check it again. We ensure a robust food safety program that includes SQF Level 2 certification to ensure you and your guests’ safety.
