The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is advising that U.S. consumers avoid consumption and dispose of any romaine lettuce product that was harvested from Salinas, California. Most grower shippers have transitioned harvesting areas away from the Salinas Valley for the season. As of 11/23/2019 BIX Produce is currently only shipping romaine from the Yuma, AZ, Imperial Valley, CA and locally grown product which is not part of the CDC alert at this time. This is an advisory notice, not a product recall at this time.
Romaine lettuce products have harvest areas noted on the cases. Fresh cut romaine items will also have harvest regions noted on the bags. Please look for the labeling on any product that you may have on hand to confirm if the product is related to the advisory. If you cannot identify the harvest area, the CDC recommends that you dispose of the product.
